Downtown Salt Lake City offers a wide variety of activities for alcoholics of all types. With multiple movie theaters, music venues, restaurants, and parks all within walking distance of the hotel, you'll have plenty of options to keep yourself busy outside of the conference itself!
Restaurants in the area are plentiful well-worth paying a visit. You can get world-class sushi at Takashi, amazing Mediterranean food at Spitz, or grab a delicious bite at The Copper Onion before checking out an indie film at the Broadway Theater right next door. Downtown itself will also be lit up in celebration of New Years Eve; simply walking around will be a delight.
Outdoor recreation is also easy to enjoy in the area. For the ski bums hoping to catch a few runs during the conference, multiple resorts are just a 40 minute drive away (though you should anticipate traffic, and get there early to make sure you get a parking spot!). Ice skating is also available at the Gallivan Center downtown, within walking distance of the conference!
